Our Story
I thought you might like to hear about how we came to be missionaries. I will try to keep it brief but informative as well.

Most of you already know who we are, but for those of you who don't let me enlighten you. We are John, Amy, Parker & Simeon Harrison. John is from Russellville, Arkansas and Amy is from Stuttgart and this is our story.......

John and I were married March 13, 1993 and began our married lives pretty much like any young couple. We had our own home and both had jobs and were working with the youth choir in our home church. In 1996 while in a missions service we both felt God dealing with us to work in the mission field. Not knowing where or how we took a two week trip to Mexico to get a feel for what missions was about. By the end of that trip we knew where God wanted us to be.....MEXICO! Finally after almost two years of planning we were ready to move. On May 15, 1998 just two months shy of our big move we were blessed with the precious gift of our first son......Parker!  We packed what was left of our belongings into an old yellow school bus and a dodge minivan and headed for the border! We moved to San Luis Potosi, about 9 hours from the border, where we attended language school for one year.

After school we moved to Monterrey Mexico and began to do children's crusades! It was a little scary at first, but the Lord helped us and the children were so kind and forgiving as we made many mistakes with our newly learned language. While living there we began to pray for the Lord to give us another child and on March 20, 2001 He answered those prayers and sent us another son who we named Simeon! Now Parker had a little brother and he was so proud to be a Big Brother! During this time we were also looking for land so we could have a camp ground for youth camps! We were invited to the village we now live in to come and be a part of an adult/kids crusade and while we were here we fell in love with the place.

In 2004 we were able to purchase the 6 acres we now live on and began construction on CAMP HOPE! One project at a time the Lord has proven His faithfulness over and over again! As you can see from the pictures we have posted things are finally coming together and we are almost ready to have our first official youth camp here at Camp HOPE!

Our story isn't over yet, it is still being written and as each chapter unfolds we hope it is a story worth reading! Please keep us in your prayers as we strive to do God's perfect will for our lives. We appreciate all of you who support Hope Ministries and Camp Hope! Words really can't express how much it means to us to have so many great friends cheering us on! We pray God will richly bless each of you!
Just wanted to add a little about the boys and our animals. Parker is 11 and in the 6th grade, Simeon is 8 and a second grader now. They love animals, especially Simeon! We have our German Shepherds Wylie and Wynonna and their son Nicodemus. We also have our donkey Flo, who is the camp mascot, the campers love her. We have two cats the yellow one is Bo and the other one is Calico Carly. Samantha Sue "Samie" is the smallest member of the family, but not the youngest. She is now five years old. As you can tell by her picture, she is spoiled rotten and sweet as sugar!  We don't have any chickens at the moment but hope to get more very soon!
