"Now unto him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us" Eph. 3:20
We are awestruck at the work God has performed here this past week. After six years of work here our vision has begun to come to light. We give thanks first to God and then to all of you who have made this possible with your prayers and support.
Camp began here about 3:00 p.m on Monday as the campers began to arrive. The air was charged with excitement as more than fifty campers flooded in full of energy and eager to get started with the first camp here. Our current facilities allows us to accommodate about fifty overnight campers. We were able to fill the camp to capacity after only a few days of annoucing the date. Every bed was filled and we had many day campers who attended but had to leave after the night service due to lack of room. We pray that God would allow us in the future to be able to receive as many as will come. We are going to give first chance at the next camp to those who didn't get to attend this one.
After some of the gracious Mexican ladies served the campers a fantastic meal we had the first of four nights of services. We had a very talented group of young singers to get things started and then turned the service over to Bro. Miqueas, our evangelist for the week. The power and anointing of God was tremendous throughout the praise and worship and through the bringing of the word of God. Our time around the alters was unbelievable Monday night and escalated each night as the glory of God fell mightily night after night as many were saved, Baptized in the Holy Spirit, touched, blessed, and we believed eternally changed.
Each day was filled with fun games and activities that the campers enjoyed greatly but we are most thankful for the move of God we saw and we fully believe that we are going to see much fruit in the lives of these young people and that their joy and excitement will spread throughout all the young people in our area and beyond.
FYI the grounds here at Camp Hope will from here on out be known as "Camp Gilgal". As many of you know in the Bible when the Children of Israel crossed the Jordan to begin their conquest of the Promised Land Joshua instructed one from each tribe to pick up a stone. After they had crossed he took those stones and constructed a monument to God and instructed all the people to remember this and when their children asked what those stones meant to tell them of the faithfulness of God. We want our grounds here to stand as a memorial in the lives of these young people as a place where the reproach of sin was rolled off of their lives and God was faithful to renew and refresh them and begin a good work in them that he will continue until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God has truly done exceeding abundantly more than we could have imagined here at our first camp and we believe for greater things as we operate in the power of God within us here at Camp Gilgal.
